Advocacy

Championing the Coaching Profession

ASCA’s advocacy work is grounded in a simple belief: coaches deserve a strong, informed, and influential voice shaping the future of competitive swimming. Our role is to stand at the intersection of policy, education, and professional standards, ensuring that the needs and perspectives of coaches are represented at every level of decision‑making. We monitor emerging issues, engage with national and international governing bodies, and collaborate with partners across the sport to protect the integrity of coaching and elevate the profession as a whole.

Through consistent communication and strategic action, ASCA works to advance policies that support safe sport environments, fair competition, and meaningful professional development opportunities. We advocate for resources that help coaches thrive, from improved working conditions to access to high‑quality training and certification pathways. Most importantly, we amplify the collective voice of our coaching community, ensuring that the people who guide athletes every day are included in conversations that shape the sport’s future.

Advocacy is not a one‑time effort — it’s an ongoing commitment to leadership, transparency, and progress. ASCA is here to represent you, support you, and champion the issues that matter most to coaches everywhere.

Leadership

ASCA’s advocacy efforts extend beyond policy influence — they are about protecting the long‑term health of the coaching profession and ensuring that every coach has the support needed to succeed. We work to identify emerging challenges in the sport, from workforce issues to evolving safety standards, and bring forward solutions that reflect the real experiences of coaches on deck. By engaging with legislators, sport administrators, and allied organizations, ASCA helps shape a landscape where coaching is respected, sustainable, and aligned with the highest standards of athlete development. Our advocacy also empowers coaches with the knowledge and tools to navigate complex regulations, understand their rights, and contribute meaningfully to conversations that impact their careers. Through this work, we reinforce the value of coaching as a profession and strengthen the foundation of competitive swimming for generations to come.
